The winer IUMA-2015 Young Researchers Award has been Jana Juan Alcañiz
The University Materials Institute (IUMA), as agreed during the meeting of the Permanent Commission of the IUMA Council held on 30/06/2015, publishes the call for the Young Researchers Award in order to encourage research in the area of Materials Science and Technology.
The contestants must be young doctors who have defended their thesis after the January 1st 2011.

-A paper, in PDF format, in the area of Materials Science and Technology that has been published (or is accepted) in a prestigious journal.

Preliminary list of accepted applications for the 2015 IUMA Young Researchers Award
A Commission appointed by the IUMA (Annex 1) for this specific purpose, shall select three researchers from among all applicants. These will have to present their research work on 20/01/2016 at the beginning of the 12th Scientific Conference of the University Materials Institute that will be held on 21 and 22 January 2016 in Alicante.
The resolution from the selection process for the three finalist researchers will be communicated on December 11, 2015.
Each of the three selected researchers will make an oral presentation of their work, which will be public and will last for 40 min, with no restrictions on the duration of discussion time. Two experts in the areas of the works presented will encourage and stimulate questions from the audience.
The prize will be awarded to the candidate who obtains the highest score according to the following sections:
(a) 40% of the total score from the evaluation of the experts referred to in the second subparagraph of the Selection of Candidates section.
(b) 40% of the total score from the evaluation of the Commission referred to in paragraph first paragraph of the Selection of Candidates section.
(c) 20% of the total score from the voting results carried out by the doctors present at the talk.
The assessment shall take into account the quality of the work presented and the knowledge demonstrated by the candidates in the area of research. In addition, in the evaluation corresponding to subparagraph (b), the Curriculum Vitae of the candidates be taken into account.
1. The prize winner will receive 1200 euro (this amount will be subjected to taxes according to the current legislation in Spain).
2. the two runners-up will receive 400 euros each (this amount will be subjected to taxes according to the current legislation in Spain).
In addition, the three selected researchers will have their traveling expenses covered up to a maximum of 300€, including their assistance (upon request) to the Conference of the University Materials Institute.
